Lauren

Owner

Lauren founded BrassMonkey in February 2021. She has always been inspired by magazines and media from a teenager, spending all her pocket money on magazines - Mizz, top of the pops, kerrang and cosmopolitan.

Lauren has been a dancer for over 20 years, starting with training in ballet at the age of 4, moving into more lyrical and contemporary styles as a teenager before discovering Pole. She fell in love with pole and aerial arts about 6 years ago and has been interested in circus and performance arts of all styles ever since. Lauren has a tendency of being incredibly accident-prone, so spends a lot of her time in pole rehab, rather than learning tricks.

Her favourite move on aerial hoop is a Russian Split, something she prides herself on, and the one move she absolutely hates is a meat hook.

When she's not busy with her fulltime muggle job or planning the next issue of BrassMonkey, you can find Lauren behind the camera photographing pole dance events or portraiture. Lauren’s photography style is influenced by the more sexy side, showing off the strong and sensual side of people in and out of clothing.

When she’s not pole dancing, hanging upside down on a hoop or photographing, you can find Lauren dancing to the tunes of Tame Impala, Pink Floyd and Electric Callboy whilst cooking way too much pasta.
